A family legacy, a new chapter
Cherry Tree Farm has been a cornerstone of the Croyde landscape for generations. Originally a cabbage farm established by the Lang family, it first started welcoming campers back in 1986. The Langs were dedicated stewards of this land and gave generously to conservation, gifting iconic spots like Blood Hills and the coastal cliffs at Putsborough to the National Trust.
In 2024, the baton was passed to us, the Briggs family. We've lived in and loved North Devon for over 25 years, and we actually started camping at Cherry Tree ourselves for over three decades ago. We're passionate about keeping the Lang family's values alive while giving the farm a new lease of life. Our vision is simple: to create a destination where community and nature thrive together.
Wilding and wellness
Since taking over, we've focused heavily on nature. We've dedicated our largest field to natural succession and planted thousands of trees, including English Oak and Wild Cherry. Working closely with an ecologist, we've increased our no-cut zones and tucked thousands of new whips into our hedgerows to create vital wildlife corridors. We even compost all our food waste on-site, returning tonnes of nutrients back to the soil.
We've turned the old barn into a space for yoga and fitness, but the wood-fired sauna is the real highlight. Built from a shipping container with a huge glass wall looking right over the sea, it's become a great community hub for campers and locals alike. It's a place to gather, relax and reconnect while watching the sunset after a day on the coast.
Life on the farm
Whether you're a seasoned van lifer or a first-time camper looking for a bit of comfort in one of our premium bell tents, there's a place for you here. We've also introduced dog-friendly fields, including a dedicated space where your four-legged friends can run off-lead.
Food and connection are at the heart of what we do. During the summer, the barn hosts fire-led feasts with guest chefs to celebrate seasonal, local produce. For a more casual start to your day, you can grab a coffee at harpers, our new coffee van converted from an old livestock trailer.
Our atmosphere
We've intentionally kept the atmosphere here peaceful and grounded. We aren't a party site; we're more a place for early nights and early hikes, or catching the sunrise. It's about relaxing by the sea, respecting the land, and enjoying a simpler way of life.
We're currently planning a refresh of our facilities and the barn for autumn 2026 to ensure the farm remains a special destination for years to come. We can't wait to welcome you.
